Ultimate Designer Bag Wishlist

I have been seriously researching designer bags for the past 2 years or so in order to find the perfect bag to purchase as my first designer handbag. I've done a bag wishlist before (click here for post) but it has changed drastically since then. Besides just liking the overall design and look of the bag, I also have a few other requirements. First, I want a relatively small bag, but it still needs to be able to hold everything I want. Second, I want the bag to stay structured and stiff throughout it's lifetime because I cannot stand slouchy bags. Third, I want the design to be simple and classic so that it does not go out of style or look dated for many many years to come.

My ultimate designer bag wishlist is much shorter than I thought it would be, but I think it's the perfect curated collection. Realistically I could only see myself purchasing the first 3 bags on the list for the time being. The rest of the bags will most likely be purchases made many, many years from now, if ever. I'd like to buy myself a few nice things, but my priority will be to put my money towards purchasing property and traveling rather than a large collection of luxury items.

My Ultimate Designer Bag Wishlist:

1. Louis Vuitton Alma BB in Epi Leather

This is a bag that I have seen for many years but never really considered purchasing. But now that I've tried it on and done plenty of research on this bag, I think this is the bag that I'm going to purchase first. It fits my full sized wallet with room to spare, has the top handles as well as a shoulder strap, and can be fully zipped up to secure my belongings. It ticks off all the features that I want in a bag while still being quite small and compact.

Another plus is that epi leather is incredibly durable and stays very structured and stiff. I'd hate to buy a bag that looks structured at first and then over the years it gets slouchier and slouchier, which is another reason why this bag appeals so much to me. Finally, the alma design has been around for decades and is still in style. I'm a classic kind of girl so I want my bags to stand the test of time. I definitely don't want to spend a ton of money on a bag, only to have it look dated in a few years.

2. Saint Laurent Baby Sac De Jour

I love the simplicity and structure of this bag. Even though it only came out a few years ago, I think it could possibly become a classic design. The size and design of this bag make it much more practical to use as a work bag in addition to just using it as a purse.

3. Chanel Medium Le Boy in Caviar leather

The boy bag is a much newer design compared to the classic flap bag but it suits my personal style much better. It's similar enough in design with the classic flap to ensure that it will become just as much of a classic design. I favour the caviar leather from Chanel over the lambskin for it's durability as well as the luxurious look of the leather. I'd love to get this bag in a fun colour rather than black.

4. Chanel Rectangular Mini

This bag would be perfect for those days when you don't want to bring much with you for the day. It gives you the look of the classic flap without the price tag. I've heard that the mini pretty much holds the same amount as the medium classic flap which is another reason why I'd rather opt for this size. I would also like to get this bag in a fun colour instead of just black since it's so small.

5. Hermes Birkin 30cm
Epsom Leather, prefer a deep purple colour
(Raisin, Bordeaux, Cassis, Ultraviolet)

6. Hermes Kelly 25cm or 28cm
Epsom Leather, prefer a grey or deep blue colour
(Etain, Etoupe, Taupe, Gris Mouette)

These are two beautiful bags, and if I'm ever in a place in my life that I can comfortably afford these bags, I would buy them. Like I said before I could skip the Chanel classic flaps and just get these and I would still feel like I have the perfect collection.

HONORARY MENTIONS:

These are bags that I like, but I'm not too sure that I would ever actually purchase them.

Besides Hermes, this is probably the most classic bag on the list. I wouldn't say this is my favourite bag or that I'm dying to be able to obtain this bag, but I do like it and I appreciate the classic status of this bag. This is the one bag that I would most likely buy in black rather than any other colour.

This may be a bag that I purchase when I'm much older because currently, it just doesn't fit my style.

Dior Medium Diorever

I've heard people comparing this to the Birkin, and I do see the similarities. But regardless, this bag's look and functionality is appealing to me. The one thing that is better about the Diorever over the Birkin is the fact that it has a shoulder strap. Otherwise, of course the Birkin wins in every other aspect.

Hermes Constance Mini or 24cm
(Crocus, Anemone, Blue Saphir, Blue Electric)

I'd most likely prefer the Constance over the Chanel classic flap because I find the Constance to be simpler and less flashy than the classic flap.

Not sure if I would ever actually purchase this bag, but I have seen some people wearing this bag before and it does look cute.
