My Favourite Designer Bags

I always thought I would just want to buy any designer bag I come across, but as I continue to search for the perfect bag to purchase, I’ve realized that I really don’t love that many bags. I thought I would have easily been able to come up with 10 bags but I honestly couldn’t. Many of the bags on this list still have many flaws in my opinion, which I will get into.

Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere 25

This is the first bag that I really fell in love with, unfortunately this colour (Aube) has been discontinued and none of the currently available colours are appealing to me. It’s a beautiful bag, and from what I heard it’s also very durable. I just can’t bring myself to spend that much on a bag that doesn’t come in a colour I like.

Celine Nano Luggage Tote

I fell in love with this bag and honestly thought that I would buy this as my first designer bag, but I tried it on recently and the top handles are so tiny that it makes it impossible to wear on your elbow which is something I wanted to be able to do with the bag I chose. I love the design of this bag and the size, but I really want the versatility of being able to carry the bag by hand, elbow, and shoulder. It’s still a bag I’m considering, especially after trying it on again recently at the Celine store.

Celine Mini Belt Bag

This is a new love, and has the potential to be the bag I buy. It’s definitely a great size and can be worn on the elbow as well as the shoulder. After trying it on recently, I’m not that fond of the shoulder strap being attached to only one side of the bag. I also don’t like that the bag is difficult to open and close. Another problem is that I haven’t seen this bag come in any particularly appealing colours yet. This bag will probably be a “far in the future” purchase rather than my first designer bag.

Saint Laurent Baby Sac De Jour

I considered this bag along with the nano luggage; however it also has a major flaw. There is no way to close the top of the bag at all, so it remains gaping open at all times. I love the structure and size of the bag, but I hate that the bag makes it so easy for anyone to look inside or even stick their hand inside and steal something without you knowing. Again this may be a far future purchase but probably not the first bag I’ll buy.

Fendi Mini 3Jours

Another new love, this bag is similar to the nano luggage and sac de jour minus the flaws. It has a zipper at the top to keep your stuff safe and sound, and the top handles are definitely large enough to allow you to carry the bag on your elbow. This bag isn’t necessarily as trendy or easily recognized as the Celine and Saint Laurent bags, but the functionality and style of the bag makes it a top contender to me.

Chanel Medium Boy Bag

These last three are more of the “far future dream bags”. I wouldn’t consider purchasing these bags anytime soon. The first is the Chanel Le Boy bag. Chanel overall doesn’t impress me as much as the average girl, but I do love the design of the boy bag.

Hermes Kelly & Birkin

I feel like Hermes speaks for itself. These aren’t bags that I would consider purchasing anytime soon, but if I get to the point where these are viable options, I would definitely purchase one.

Currently the two bags I’m considering the most are the Celine Nano Luggage Tote and the Fendi Mini 3Jours. The price points are nearly identical so price is not an issue. The thing that would make the biggest difference to me is color, and neither of these bags currently come in a color that I love. Other than color, the Celine is more classic and recognizable, while the Fendi is more unique and unknown. The functionality of the Fendi is better than the Celine. If I didn’t consider color, I’m not sure if I should go for better functionality (Fendi) or overall more appealing look of the bag (Celine). What would you go for?
